Overview
Magic plays an important role in The Clans. Your members learn spells from their race and class at creation, and can learn additional spells by purchasing spell books from the wizard's shop. Casting a spell costs spell points (SP).

Spell Types
Spells fall into six categories:
| Category | Effect |
|---|---|
| Healing | Restores hit points to allies. |
| Damage | Deals damage to enemies. |
| Modification | Temporarily changes attributes or other effects. |
| Incapacitation | Prevents an enemy from acting on their next turn. |
| Raise Undead | Summons an undead creature to fight on your side. |
| Banish Undead | Destroys enemy undead creatures. |
Some spells can only target allies, some only enemies. The spell description tells you what it does and who it can target.

Books and Scrolls
Spell books permanently teach one member a new spell. Once learned, the member can cast that spell any time they have enough SP.
Scrolls are single-use items. They can be read during combat (press E) without spending any SP. The scroll is consumed after one use. Scrolls are useful for casting spells your members have not learned or when you are low on SP.
